Scripture

12 But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. —Psalm 19:12-14 (NIV)

Notes

Study Guide

Step One: Open
Read Psalm 19:12-14 and pray to open your time together in God’s word.

Step Two: Icebreaker (Optional)
As a Leader, test your group to see if they can guess what these acronyms mean: FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), TTYL (Talk to You Later), ROTFL (Rolling on the Floor Laughing), BOTLO (Be on the Look Out), NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), SCAN (Sufficiency Clarity Authority
Necessity)

Step Three: Discuss

  1. What stood out to you the most in this weekend’s teaching?

  2. As you reflect on SCAN: Sufficiency, Clarity, Authority, Necessity, which one comes most natural to you to embrace and why?

  3. As you reflect on SCAN: Sufficiency, Clarity, Authority, Necessity, which one comes seems the hardest for you to embrace and why?

  4. Read verse 14 again. Share with the group what it looks like for you to mediate on the word of God?

  5. Take a moment to share and reflect on the most recent thing you read in scripture as you meditated on God’s word.

  6. In what ways has God revealed himself to be a rock for you in your life as mentioned in verse 14?

  7. Throughout verses 7-9 we read that God’s word offers (see below), which one would you pick for the group to be praying for you this week to experience as you embrace God’s word and why?
    a. Refreshment to the soul
    b. Making wise the simple
    c. Gives joy to the heart
    d. Gives light to the eyes

Step Four: Close in Prayer
