My Big Mouth
The Power of Speech

And all were astonished at the majesty of God.

Jesus Again Foretells His Death
But while they were all marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying. —Luke 6:43-45

The Bible has a lot to say about speech.

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8but no human being can tame the tongue. —James 3:7-8

Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. —Proverbs 17:27-28

1. Your speech is the indicator.

2. Your heart is the influencer.

“But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it.” —Matthew 13:23

We can change other hearts by the Word.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” And that’s completely true. —Proverbs 18:21:

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” —Isaiah 55:11
