Why Worship? Express Yourself

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” —Psalm 100:1-2, 4

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” —Luke 19:37-40

“For the grave cannot praise (yadah) you, death cannot sing your praise (hallal); those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness. The living, the living—they praise you.” —Isaiah 38:18-19

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” —John 4:23

– to address in a loud tone, to shout.

“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.” —Psalm 63:3-4

– to lift hands in adoration.
