Title: A Trinitarian Prayer
Passage: Ephesians 3:14-21
Speaker: Ross Frisbie (Senior Minister)
Use the following questions based on today’s sermon as a starting point for spiritual discussions with your family or a small group of Christian friends this week.
Fellowship—Relationship with a Purpose
- What is something nice (or expensive or prestigious) you own but never use? Why don’t you use it?
Growth—Thinking About Spiritual Matters
- Consider your prayer life. What percentage is focused on issues like physical healing for those who are sick or hurting? Why don’t we pray more about the spiritual nature and spiritual battles in our life?
- See Ephesians 3:14. What does your posture during prayer communicate? Is it important for us to actually kneel during prayer? Why or why not?
- When do you ask God for “inner strength?” Is it needed only in special circumstances, or always? Explain.
Ephesians 3:17 talks about Christ “dwelling” in our hearts. How can you ensure that He isn’t just treated as a visitor there, rather than a permanent dweller? - What activity most helps you develop spiritual depth?
- Share a time when you experienced the fullness of God’s love. What helped you experience it then? What gets in the way of experiencing it now?
- What does it mean to be “filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18)? See Ephesians 4:13-16.
- Read Ephesians 3:20-21. Do you pray as if this is a reality? What big prayers for His glory are you not praying?
Prayer – Taking Your Thoughts to God
- Write out your prayer to God. Pray for spiritual fullness, for inner strength, for spiritual depth, and a knowledge of Christ’s love.
