DAY TWENTY-TWO — BE A DISCIPLE

There is a big difference between a believer and a disciple. A disciple is one who not only has a relationship with God, but is teachable and willing to receive instruction from Him. Believers, on the other hand, are satisfied with the status quo of knowing who God is, and no more. As you can tell, the difference between the two lies in the intensity of passion and hunger within a person. It is possible to be a believer, and never reach the ultimate level of living as a disciple. Are you willing to settle for a general relationship with the Lord or do you desire a deeper relationship, like that between a loving father and child?

The Greek translation for the word “disciple” in the New Testament is “learner.” The term refers to one who has learned certain principles from another and maintains them on another’s authority. Simply put, disciples go beyond mere confession to a complete change in lifestyle, priorities and passions. Jesus is looking for modern-day disciples!
