6.4.23
The book of 1 Corinthians
- Written by the Apostle Paul around 55A.D.
- Letter to the Church of Corinth, (modern-day Greece)
- Paul has more critique of the Church in this letter than
2nd Corinthians - Paul’s main message: [Put God’s glory first]
The more we try to do on our own, the more we isolate ourselves from God.
- “Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” 1 Corinthians 1:20 NIV
The more we try to become like God, we abandon faith
- “Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,”
(1 Corinthians 1:22 NIV)
- “Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,”
We cannot fall into the trap of “we know everything.”
- “But to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the
foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the
weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”-
- “But to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks,
- Find community, pursue the father together
- Trusting in the Character of God
- Walking as a disciple of Christ
