Acts 17:10-11

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

If we want to understand Scripture better…

1) …we need to

.

Psalm 119:12 Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes!

Psalm 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

2) …we need to

.

Psalm 119:15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.

Psalm 119:23 Even though princes sit plotting against me, your servant will meditate on your statutes.

Questions to ask when meditating on Scripture:

• What are the potential overlooked details?
• What did it mean then?
• What does it mean now?
• What does it mean to me?
• Why is this important to know?
• Why did God give this to me?
• How can I apply this to my life?
• What is God’s design for my life?

3) …we should

.

Psalm 119:13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth.

Psalm 119:46 I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame…

Psalm 119:172 My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness. NKJV

4) … we need to

.

Psalm 119:97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

Psalm 119:147-148 I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise.
