From the Red Carpet to the Red Sea // Romans 8:31-39 // Pastor Greg Despres

We made it to 2021!
But it may feel like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Like the people of God who had the Red Sea before them and the Egyptian Army behind. The God who brought us to 2020 will be the same God who will lead us into 2021.

This morning we are seeking to maximize our security. Everyone longs for security. No matter our age, we hang onto security like a baby blanket it in a child’s hands. Young kids need security in the dark. Teens want to be accepted. College students want to know their future is secure. Adults wear the weight of their kids, their job security, and elections.

The of God (Romans 8:31-32)

  1. 8:31-

    is better understood as

  2. Psalm 118:6- The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

  3. 8:32- An argument from__ lesser__ to

. If God gave His Son while we were sinners how much more will He give His Son when we are in a relationship with Him?

  4. Red Sea Rule- Envision God’s

    - God’s presence in the trial is better than being exempt from the trial, the Lord’s presence is never so sweet than in the presence of appalling difficulty.

The of God (Romans 8:33-34)

  1. 8:33- Is a

scene. The word is the formal process.

  2. The people of God were sometimes charged with

, disruption of business, immorality, , lack of patriotism, etc.

  3. 8:34- What is justification? “Dear Sir: There is no record anywhere in our files that anything ever went wrong with a Rolls-Royce.” That is justification!

  4. Red Sea Rule- Realize that God

for you to be where you are - Worry is putting a question mark where God has put a period. You may have a SEA before you, all of your enemies behind you, and mountains all around you and God led you there.

The of God (Romans 8:35-39)

  1. A good litmus test on whether we are living self-centered or God-centered is how we deal with the stresses and pains of life.

  2. Red Sea Rule- Be More

for God’s Glory than for your own - If we could only look upon a difficult situation as an occasion of bringing out, on our behalf, the sufficiency of divine grace, it would enable us to preserve the balance of our souls and to glorify God, even in the deepest waters.

  3. 8:37- More than Conquerors. The word conqueror is

    ! A conqueror wins by 5 but a super conqueror wins 146-5.

  4. Exodus 14:14; Jeremiah 1:19

Prayer Time- Join me at the front to pray for God to be your security. Ask the Lord to cause you to seek His presence, thank Him for His work in your life, and ask Him to fill you with His power and love as we move into 2021.
