Matthew 11:1-6 (NIV)
After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee. When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”
John 3:30 (NIV)
“He must become greater; I must become less.”
Matthew 11:3 (NIV)
“Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

When We’ve Hit A Wall In The After-Life …
- Let’s go to Jesus.
- We should consider the whole story (or counsel) of Scripture.
- Let’s seek the testimonies of others.
- We need others who will go the distance with us for the sake of our faith in Jesus.
Hitting The Wall In The After-Life Is An Opportunity …
- For a new level of reliance upon God.
2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NIV)
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God … .
- For others to see a power beyond us at work within us.
2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Three Questions …
- Who made a difference for you when you hit a wall?
- Do you know someone who’s hit a wall?
- Have you hit a wall?
