Update & Future
33 years ago our church, Cape Christian, was birthed from a God-sized vision to be a church for the city that focused on reaching people that don’t know Jesus. From day one, that has been the mission of Cape Christian. And although there have been leadership changes and times of transition, we have not wavered from the heartbeat of God that “His will is that none should perish” (2 Peter 3:9). Cape Christian has consistently resisted the urge to settle for what we have, and we have done anything but play it safe. Last year we launched our “For EveryOne” Initiative to raise funds for our next stage of growth. This week, Pastor Cory reminds us of the vision that God has for this house, and that Covid-19 did not change it.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Pastor Cory talks about how we are all encouraged at Cape Christian to have a “one” that we are praying for to come into a thriving relationship with Jesus. Who is your one? Who is someone that God has put in your life to pray for?
- Have someone read Matthew 28:19-20. What does these verses mean to you? How does this passage challenge you?
- Pastor Cory talks about how Cape Christian is a place For EveryONE to find Jesus. It is a place For EveryONE to find community. It is a place For EveryONE to use their gift, and to help build this place that is For EveryONE. How is God asking you to join in on this mission?
MOVING FORWARD
The vision that God has planted in the hearts of Dennis and Linda Gingerich, who founded the church, continues to beat today at Cape Christian. We are a place where people far from God can feel safe to explore their relationship with Jesus, regardless of their background. We work hard to clearly communicate the good news that Jesus proclaimed and endeavor to offer an engaging environment to help people become who God has created them to be. It begins by each of us being authentic in our own relationship with Jesus and allowing him to help us become who he made us to be. It continues through each one of us inviting others to join in the journey. Who will you invite to join in the adventure?
