Live Out Your Mission
Mike Pence committed his life to Christ as a college freshman and has been “all in” with Jesus ever since! He describes himself as “a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order.” Throughout his political career, he has championed biblical values such as teaching creation side-by-side with evolution, defending the unborn, and the blessings of marriage. Are you daily living out the mission God has for you?
Four Key Choices We Make Daily:
You Choose Your
“By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God.” —Hebrews 11:23-25
God has created us as social creatures, and we will always identify with a particular people group. Who is your people group? Our parents are chosen for us, but later we will choose to what extent we continue to identify with them. Ruth chose to identify with the Israelites and their God rather than her own Moabite family (Ruth 1:16).
Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s palace, but later chose to identify with the God of Israel. Are you loyal to Jesus and his church (Matthew 16:18)?
You Choose Your
“He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.” —Hebrews 11:25
“The triumph of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless is momentary.” —Job 20:5
Moses faced serious temptations of sex, money, and power, but resisted. He ended up in the deserts of Midian, a fugitive on the run (Exodus 2). Every day we reaffirm our priorities. Is God really #1 in your life?
You Choose Your
“He persevered because he saw him who is invisible.” —Hebrews 11:27
Winston Churchill’s perseverance in the face of the Nazi aerial onslaught is documented in The Splendid and the Vile. “Persistence – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking your potential” (Churchill).
A reluctant Moses eventually stood up to the mighty Pharaoh as God promised him, “I will make you like God to Pharaoh” (Exodus 7:1). The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God will not protect you. If God has called you to do something, don’t give up! Hang in there!
You Choose Your
“By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel. By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.” —Hebrews 11:28-29
Daily we choose whether to relay on ourselves or on God. Will you choose human power and ingenuity, or divine power and ingenuity? Moses put his faith in God, and saw some of the greatest miracles in the Bible.
On September 22, 1983, Tim Scott had just turned 18 and was attending college on a football scholarship. That night, at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meeting, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and Lord. “I remember walking down that aisle and I got down on my knees as a person who is so selfish, but when I rose back up the Lord had become the Master of my life.”
Tim’s parents divorced when he was 7. He grew up in working class poverty as his mom worked 16-hour days to keep food on the table. Tim learned the value of hard work as a young man, opening his own business, and eventually running for office. In 2014, he became the first African-American to win a US Senate seat in a state that had been loyal to the Confederacy.
At every turn of life, Tim has determined to put Christ #1 in his life. Many of his friends see him as a man who can heal our country and are urging him to run for president in 2024. Tim is living out the mission God has for him. Are you?
