A New Adventure
We hope re-entry was smooth. As we agreed in Montana, we will meet monthly through the end of the year (at least) and continue our discussions around our stories. Until our first meeting next month, press in! The last time we spoke, we dwelled together in the great state of Montana, where we discovered our Identity:
I am a beloved son of a good-hearted father. I am an heir with a shared inheritance made possible by my abundant, generous Older Brother. He invites me to join the family again and be about our Father’s purposes.
All of this is true and good, necessary for our core hearts, but as we said before you left, the trip to Montana is a moment compared to the rest of your life’s journey. Our heavenly Dad wants to transform and restore us to who he created us to be, but the Process of Restoration doesn’t happen overnight. As God restores us, he exposes more of our deep-seated lies, agreements, and wounds that cause us to choose our imposters. And for the most part, we find that those imposters (driven by lies, agreements, and wounds) determine most of our daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly choices. Too often, we rely on ourselves to make decisions, but we aren’t aware of how our imposters drive us. When we face questions like:
Should I take this new job? Should our family go on this vacation? Where should I send my kids to school? Should I eat the second cheeseburger? Etc.
We let our imposters decide, which often results in wrong motives. Fear, pride, and selfishness drive our decisions instead love, mercy, and grace leading them. But we are not our imposters, right? We don’t have to live under their burdensome lies. We ARE sons of a good Dad who comes to give us freedom! Freedom to CHOOSE best. As we return home, we know who we are; now it’s time to turn a corner and discover our code. Here we come to new crossroads on our adventure, and we need to ask a new core, heart question:
