DISCUSS
- Israel’s unfaithfulness to God led to division. How has unfaithfulness in a relationship you’ve been in led to division? In what way has faithfulness in a relationship led to unity?
- In what ways do you see the worst of times intersecting with the best of times? When might they coexist?
- What do you do when you feel hopeless? How have you coped with hopelessness?
- What attributes or traits of God are revealed when He keeps his promises? Because we are to glorify God by showing the world what He is like, which of the attributes that were just mentioned are the hardest for you to exhibit? Why do you think that is?
- Read II Samuel 7:12-13 and Jeremiah 29:11 to read some promises God made. What specific promises of God have you claimed that helped you in the worst of times?
- What do you think it means to rewrite your story to include the promises of God? Give an example of something that you would put in it.
PRAY
Thank you, my Father, for being so faithful in good times and bad. Please help me to recall the promises You have given in the scriptures that can bring me hope to replace my feelings of hopelessness. I want to look back at my past and see how you’ve kept Your word in order to face my future by standing on Your promises. Amen.
