Radical Parenting
(Proverbs on Parenting)
Pastor Josh Whitney (josh@trc.life)

Malachi 2:15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.

I. Radical parents get to enjoy the

of godly children. [Proverbs 17:21, 17:25, 23:15-16, 28:7, 29:3]

Proverbs 10:1 A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

II. Radical parents

teach their children God’s ways. [Proverbs 1:8, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 4:10, 5:1, 7:1, 15:5]

Proverbs 13:1 A wise son hears his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

Proverbs 15:2 (NLT) The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.

III. Radical parents have the

to say NO!

Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

IV. Radical parents lovingly

their children. [Proverbs 3:11-12, 19:18, 22:15, 23:13-14, 29:15, 29:17]

Proverbs 13:24 Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.

V. Radical parents understand the

of their children learning respect and obedience.

Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures.

VI. Radical parents

the counsel of godly parents.

Proverbs 20:11 Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.

VII. Radical parents fill their home with

rather than possessions and experiences.

Proverbs 15:16-17 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it.

VIII. Radical parent’s

is in Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

Proverbs 20:7 The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!
