“REACHING OUR WORLD FOR CHRIST”, TOMORROW
Acts 2:38-47
I. INTRODUCTION:
A. Nurturing obedience, the second vital necessity of
discipleship: (Diagram on back)
1. The command to evangelize “reaches our world for
Christ” today: (Mt.28:19)
2. The command to nurture obedience in a local church
“reaches our world for Christ”, tomorrow: (Mt. 28:18-
20; Heb. 10:25; Acts 2:41, 47)
B. Understanding the heart of this second command:
1. The local church designed to encourage and
admonish your obedience is defined as “the
organized physical assembly or formal meeting of
called together professing believers in Christ who
have been baptized and organized to carry out
God’s will”. Dr. C. Ryrie
2. The who, what, when, where, why, and how often in
obeying this command:
- Disobeying this command “as the manner of some”
with excuses: (Heb. 10:25)
II. WHAT IS AND ISN’T VITAL TO “REACH MY WORLD FOR
CHIRST”, TOMORROW:
A. What is vital for the local church to provide from the
very beginning: Acts 2:38-47
1. Obedience, the key to your assurance (baptism):

- Four vital nurturing necessities to practice
corporately:
a. The teaching of the “apostles doctrine” – right
thinking: v. 42a
b. “Fellowship”: v. 42b
c. “Breaking of bread” – the Lord’s Supper –
worship: v. 42c
d. “Prayer”: v.42d
B. What isn’t vital for the local church to provide:

2. The rule of thumb in additional ministries with the
safety net of the home:

4. The humbling realization of this nurturing command:
III. PRINCIPLES TO PERSONALLY APPLY:
(Together becoming “people of the Word” in principle AND in practice)
A. If you have an issue with gladly getting baptized or
joining a local church, you have an issue with
obedience, and probably don’t understand what
salvation is all about. vv. 41, 47
B. Remember the purpose of a local church has one
single recipe that you can’t live without, if you care at all
about seeing people come to Christ, tomorrow.

C. Your regular, physical attendance to these weekly
worship services of a local church is an accurate
barometer of your current spiritual appetite. (I need all
four ingredients)
Sinners Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I was made by you and I was made for you, but
I have been living for myself. I am sorry for that self-rule you call sin.
I believe that Jesus Christ being my creator God, died, was buried,
and rose again to pay the insurmountable debt that my sin has
created. So right now, I am turning from a life of going my own way,
to by faith, place my trust in Jesus Christ, to pay the debt of all my
sin, and to get me to heaven, when I breath my last breath. Lord
Jesus, from today on, I am yours. Thanks for saving me, this very
moment, in Jesus name, Amen.
