Ministry Essential: Fellowship (Sep. 25)

Connect with Other Believers

Central Idea: God didn’t intend for us to live the Christian life on our own. Rather, we are to invest in the lives of fellow believers through authentic relationships which hold us accountable to others in the body of Christ.

  1. Fellowship: Defined (in the Scriptures)

  2. Fellowship: Examined (in the early church)

    A. Sharing in relationship (Acts 2.42)

    B. Sharing in ministry (Phil 1.5)

    C. Sharing in financial support (Rom 15.26)

  3. Fellowship: Applied (to us)

Questions for Personal Reflection or Group Discussion

  1. How would you define or describe biblical fellowship to someone who knows nothing about it?

  2. Consider these additional passages which use the word koinonia: 1 Cor 10.16 (sharing); 2 Cor 6.14; Phil 3.10. What kind of sharing is happening in each passage? What does this suggest about our understanding of koinonia?

  3. Pastor Chuck suggested we must fight against the individualism of our day to embrace biblical fellowship. How can we do that?

  4. Why is it tempting for us to pretend we have it all together? What keeps us from being real and vulnerable with others? How does that attitude hurt Christ-honoring fellowship?
