Matthew 4:18-22 (NIV)
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Romans 1:16 (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

Mark 16:15 (ESV)
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”

Matthew 10:7 (ESV)
And proclaim as you go, saying, “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

1. Get baptized.

Matthew 3:13-17 (TPT)
Then Jesus left Galilee to come to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But when he waded into the water, John resisted him, saying, “Why are you doing this? I’m the one who needs to be baptized by you, and yet you come to be baptized by me?” Jesus replied, “It is only right to do all that God requires.” Then John baptized Jesus. And as Jesus rose up out of the water, the heavenly realm opened up over him and he saw the Holy Spirit descend out of the heavens and rest upon him in the form of a dove. Then suddenly the voice of the Father shouted from the sky, saying, “This is my Son—the Beloved! My greatest delight is in him.”

2. Live different.

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT)
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Matthew 5:21-22 (TPT)
You’re familiar with the commandment taught to those of old: “Do not murder or you will be judged.” But I’m telling you, if you hold anger in your heart toward a fellow believer, you are subject to judgment.

3. Know your story.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Before I met Jesus, what were some of my needs? Where did I feel I was lacking? What was missing in my life?

2. What did I try to satisfy those needs with that didn’t work?

3. What brought me to the point to consider Jesus as the answer?

4. How did inviting Jesus to be Lord of my life change me?

4. Be ready.

2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season.

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

John 1:40-42 (NLT)
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus. Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”). Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “Your name is Simon, son of John - but you will be called Cephas” (which means “Peter”).
