1. Listen to the Message

Today’s Scriptures:
Genesis 18:1-19:38

1. If you take your family into the

, they might end up in Sodom and even die in Sodom.

2. Sin

your and your (even if you are saved).

3. If you’re a bad

before the Lord, don’t expect others to you when you talk about the Lord.

4. If you

in Sodom, your will long for Sodom.

5. If you

in Sodom, you will like Sodom.

Where are you “living”? Are you ignoring God?

My Additional Notes:

2. Discuss in a Life Group

READ TOGETHER:

Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 And he said, “Now behold, my lords, please turn aside into your servant’s house, and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” They said however, “No, but we shall spend the night in the square.” 3 Yet he urged them strongly, so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he prepared a feast for them, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. 4 Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; 5 and they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.” 6 But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him, 7 and said, “Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly. 8 Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof.” —Genesis 19:1-8

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. —I John 2:15-16

DISCUSS
Why do you think Lot was so hesitant to leave Sodom? Why did his wife turn back? Why do we turn back?

READ TOGETHER:

Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. —2 Peter 2:8 NLT

DISCUSS
Why did Lot stay in Sodom and even become a leader there when he knew it was so wicked?

READ TOGETHER:

As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, Sodom and her daughters were never as wicked as you and your daughters. Sodom’s sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door. 50 She was proud and committed detestable sins, so I wiped her out, as you have seen. —Ezekiel 16:48-50

DISCUSS
What is pride? How did pride lead Sodom to destruction?
Why does a plentiful supply of food have the potential to cause spiritual problems with God?
Why didn’t Sodom strengthen the hand of the needy?
Why were they blatant about their sin before God?
How can we go down the same path if we are not very careful?
