
Compassion in Surrender

The only way to impact the world we live in is to have a mind and heart surrendered to God’s plan for our lives.
Ephesians 5.8-15
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)
10 and find out what pleases the Lord.
11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
The word “awake” is used to render two different words: one which properly means “to wake,” or “be awake,” or “watch,”
Verse 15 makes it clear
We have a responsibility to capitalize on the opportunities placed before us.
We cannot do that if we have a flawed thought process.
Colossians 3.1-4
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your a life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Much of life is an issue of focus.
Proverbs 4:23
23Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
We live in a world that would love to have our affection and attention.
Ephesians 4
20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Many of us are going back to a mindset that only leads us further from the ways of God.
Philippians 4
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
What we repeat is reinforced in our minds. What we remember influences what we do.
Always remember you being the best version of you is actually not for you.
# The most amazing thing happens when our mind is surrendered, our will follows.
