Living fully in the PEACE of Jesus

1. PEACE is not the promise of a placid sea but the assurance of a solid ship that will the storms and a Who will navigate in the midst of trouble.

2. There are no prizes being handed out for being the ; don’t hesitate to to God!

3. We have to the of Christ (not the of this world) call the shots in our lives!

4. Remember that I am never - God is me, and He sees more in me than I see in myself.

5. Rehearse God’s and maintain our on Him, not on our circumstances.

6. Christ gives us His peace, and then He us into ‘ ’.

Don’t forget to remember…the future!
And in despair I bowed my head;
“There is no peace on earth,” I said;
“For hate is strong, And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.”
(from Christmas Bells; Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

  1. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

2. What lately has been pulling your eyes / focus off of Jesus the most? How does God want you to respond to this dangerous distraction? Identify 3 or more verses/sections of Scripture that will help you refocus on Jesus. Would you say you have been nurturing fruit of peace in your life or fruit of fear? Explain.

3. In what ways do we see Gideon somewhat blame God for the situation in which he finds himself? In what ways do we blame God? What was the real reason they were in their current situation (see verse 1)?

4. What did it take for Gideon to identify God by the name “The LORD is peace”? What has helped you see Jesus as your Prince of Peace?

5. What did God do to Gideon after revealing to him His peace? Why is the mission on which God sent Gideon NOT a contradiction of the gift of peace? In this way, how are YOU like Gideon?

6. Jesus came to restore our relationship with God - a relationship of peace through salvation. Then, we are able to live in and minister peace to others (despite the world around us). But what is the ultimate fulfillment of the coming of the Prince of Peace yet to be seen? Why must we not forget what is coming in the future?
