I. Sabbath Rest is a Gift to

(Exodus 16:26–29, NIV) — 26 “Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will not be any.” 27 Nevertheless, some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather it, but they found none. 28 Then the LORD said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep my commands and my instructions? 29 Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath …”

(Exodus 31:13, NIV) — 13 “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe [conform our practices] my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.

II. Sabbath Rest is a Time to

(Exodus 20:8–11, NIV) — 8 “Remember [keep in mind] the Sabbath day by keeping it holy [set apart for God]. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Sabbath Rest Gives Us Time to Remember:

1. To Love

(worship & God’s word)
2. To Love (friends, family & church)
3. To Love (enjoy life, hobbies, nature & reflection)

III. Sabbath Rest is a Relationship with

(Luke 6:1–5, NIV) — 1 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels. 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” 3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

(Matthew 11:28–29, NIV) — 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
