Day 24: Handling Conflict Respectfully (Part 2)

Peace with God and peace with others go hand-in-hand. We cannot know peace with God unless we are at peace with one another and we cannot truly know peace with others unless we are at peace with God. Many times, the source of relational conflict is rooted in our relationship to God rather than each other.

Read Philippians 2:3-5 and Ephesians 4:2-3

Q: What advice regarding conflict do we receive from these passages?

Q: What are the reasons that people resist meeting with others to discuss and resolve conflict?

Q: What specific steps would please God and help us deal quickly with conflict more effectively?

Read Romans 12:9-11 & 17-21

Q: What principles do the following passages give us for living at peace with others and for resolving conflict if it should occur?

Q: What does this passage tell us to do if we are involved in a situation where the other person resists our prayerful efforts to resolve the conflict?

Today’s prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to honor you and bring glory to your name in all that I do. I want my life to be a testimony about how the gospel has changed my life. I want to live in harmony with everyone – especially within my family. Help me to maintain a Christ-honoring fellowship with you and also within my family. When conflict occurs, help let me be lead by the Holy Spirit in my efforts to resolve it with grace and humility.
