Today’s focus: The awesome power of

God

Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6 NLT

But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. John 4:23 NLT

The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” Isaiah 29:13 NIV

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart. Psalm 138:1 NIV

The Benefits of Worship

1) Worshipping God

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again—my Savior and my God. Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you. Psalm 42:5–6 NLT

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. Isaiah 61:3 NLT

Worship takes my eyes off my

and them back on God.

2) Worshipping God helps me

Surely righteous people are praising your name; the godly will live in your presence. Psalm 140:13 NLT

We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. Psalm 75:1 NLT

3) Worshipping God

of God

I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30 ESV

Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. Psalm 145:3 NLT

4) Worshipping God helps me

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. Psalm 103:1–5 NLT

5) Worshipping God

After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. 2 Chronicles 20:21 NLT

The Lord protects and defends me; I trust in him. He gives me help and makes me glad; I praise him with joyful songs. Psalm 28:7 GNT

6) Worshipping God

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing praises to God, while the other prisoners listened. Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the jail to its foundations. The doors opened, and the chains fell from all the prisoners. Acts 16:25–26 CEV
