Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. —Ephesians 4:11-12 (NLT)
Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. —1 Corinthians 12:1 (NIV)

3 foundational gifts God gives us
- Eternal life
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 6:23 (NLT)
- The Holy Spirit
Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” —Acts 1:4-5 (NLT)
- Spiritual gifts
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. —1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)
If God has spiritual gifts for all of us, what do I do?
-
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. —Romans 12:6-11 (NLT)
-
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. —1 Corinthians 14:1 (NIV)
- Your
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed. —Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT)
-
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: —1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)
