
Matthew 7:28 - 8:1
28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
1) Jesus declares he has the authority to tell me
“You have heard it said, but I tell you”
2) Jesus declares he has authority because all of
Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
3) Jesus declares he has the authority to be called
Matthew 7:22-23 Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
4) Jesus declares he has the authority to
Matthew 9:2 And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.”
