Scripture: John 18:33-37
Takeaway: Recognizing God’s reality changes everything.

Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.

• One thing you need.

• How can the group help?

Bible Discussion: Read John 18:33-37
• What is the significance of this passage? Why was it kept in John’s version of the Passion narrative?

• How do you think this interaction between Jesus & Pilate fits into the narrative of our current sermon series?

• What stands out to you about Jesus’ reaction to Pilate in this passage?

Application:
• How would you have felt in this situation if you put yourself in Jesus’ shoes?

• The unknown is one of the biggest contributors to fear in our lives; in this situation, Jesus could have been filled with terror…instead, we seem him answering Pilate with confidence and nonchalance. What does this say about Jesus’ view of the future?

• Does it change things for you when you know what to expect out of a situation?

• What can we expect from God when it comes to our futures?

• Do these expectations free us from pain & suffering? If not, then what’s the point?

• How can we set ourselves up to better trust in these expectations?

Challenge: Think about how you can live into God’s expectation of abundance & generosity. Do something for the first time…then do it again. Reflect on how it feels different when you know what to expect!
