VICTORY CHURCH: A PLACE TO CALL

SERIES: The 7 Places Jesus Shed His Blood
MESSAGE TITLE: The Road to

(Unless otherwise noted, all Scripture is from the New King James Version)

Pastor Keith Cross

Text:

Romans 5:6-11
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

MAIN IDEA: Because Jesus shed His blood, I can be

to God by faith having the of my sin removed and the of salvation released.

The Road to Reconciliation means to understand…

1.The

for Reconciliation: The of God (Romans 5:6-8)

God’s motivation for our reconciliation is His

and

PROBLEM: Paul tells us that humanity’s condition can be summed up by four descriptive terms: without strength, v. 6, ungodly, v. 6, sinner, v. 8, enemies, v. 10.

God’s Love Demonstrated…God put His great love on display when Jesus Christ died for those who “were yet sinners.” While we were still weak, wicked, wayward and warlike, Jesus died for us! He did not die for His friends. He died for His enemies! He did not die for people who loved Him, but He died for the very people who had crucified Him.

SOLUTION: The Road to Reconciliation begins with understanding the character of God.

2.The

of Reconciliation: The shed of Christ (Romans 5:9-10)

The measure of reconciliation is the price paid for reconciliation, the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Reconcile (Gk.) katallassō: to change, exchange, as coins for others of equivalent value. “To change from enmity to friendship.”

Characteristics of the shed blood of Jesus Christ: Perfect (sinless) blood: 2 Corinthians 5:21; Particular (unique) blood: Hebrews 9:12; Precious (valuable) blood: 1 Peter 1:18-19; Powerful (victorious) blood: Revelation 12:11.

PROBLEM: Value is not determined by what I think, feel, or am willing to pay, but is discovered in the price God paid: The shed blood of Jesus Christ.

SOLUTION: The Road to Reconciliation is possible only because of the shed blood of Christ.

3.The

of Reconciliation: The Removal of Sin’s Burden & the Releasing of Salvations Benefits (Romans 5:11)

Notice the benefits of reconciliation…Our Position vs 8 - “Justified” - To declare a person “not guilty.” Our Protection vs 9b - “saved from wrath.” Our Peace vs 10a - “reconciled.” Our Preservation vs 10b - “saved by His life.” Our Praise vs 11a - “We rejoice in God.”

SOLUTION: The Road to Reconciliation is available through the removal of sins burden and the releasing of salvations benefits.

In conclusion, “Because Jesus shed His blood, you can be

to God by faith having the of your sin removed and the of salvation released.” The Road to Reconciliation begins with understanding the of God; is possible only because of the shed of Christ; and is available through the removal of sins burden and the releasing of salvations benefits.
