WARM UP: Share a story about something your parents made you do that you hated at the time but now you’ve grown to understand and appreciate. [1 Peter 5:1-6 covers authority issues within the church. Our posture towards authority says a lot about our humility and our maturity.]

1. Read 1 Peter 5:1-6. What does this teach us about authority within the church?
2. Does this passage give any basis for holding leaders accountable? What could that look like?
3. Is it possible to live out the commands of 1 Peter 5 without participating in a local church? Explain.
