Philippians 2:5-11

Life is all about

Humility touches every relationship you have.

The example of biblical humility

1. True humility is born out of

False humility is born out of

2. True humility is a

.

False humility says, “I’m

, so you should always have your way.” While pride is a choice to serve self, rather than others.

3. True humility is sustained by obedience and

.

False humility says, “I don’t want to assert myself at the risk of being exposed.”
Pride says, “I must never allow anyone to see the real me.”

4. True humility always glorifies God and in time, is

by him (9-11).

The Biblical promise is this: You exalt yourself, and I’ll humble you; but if you humble yourself, I will exalt you, I will lift you up. (Luke 14:11; 18:14; I Peter 5: 6)

Humility involves consistent surrender to God that generates wholeness, strength and vulnerability that is willingly used in service to others, exalting God and is exalted by him.

Where is pride at work in your broken relationships. Ask God to give you insight into how to exercise true humility in those relationships.
