Psalm 23 ESV The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3He restores my soul. Things We Forget When We Fail To Rest:

1) God is my Shepherd

Psalm 23:1a The Lord is my shepherd;

2) My Shepherd never stops giving

Psalm 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

3) My Shepherd’s giving is based on His grace, not my performance.

4) My Shepherd’s grace displays His greatness.

5) My Shepherd leaves nothing to fear.

6) Your Shepherd not only sustains you; He satisfies you.

Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Romans 5 “We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

7) Your Shepherd pursues You.

Psalm 23:6a Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

8) Your life with your Shepherd will never end.

Psalm 23:6b and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

John 10:11-18 brings Psalm 23 to life I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

Revelation 7:15-17 Therefore they are before the throne of God,
