A Believer’s New Clothes (Colossians 3:12-13)
Part of Heads Up Colossae!—Colossians
September 24, 2021

Since God has given believers a new identity (Purpose), Paul’s letter showcases the new clothes that believers in Christ are to adorn themselves with. Believers are to don these attributes and grow in maturity by walking in the characteristics that Jesus displayed such as “compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” (Appropriate Clothing). A key to maturing as followers of Christ is that we are called to address complaints and offenses in a new and different way: forgiving as the Lord has forgiven us (Success Strategy).

Questions for small group discussion:
1. Create a list of virtues that Jesus modeled for us:

2. How do these Christ-like characteristics differ from our natural/fleshly responses?
3. Why is it so hard to truly forgive instead of peace-faking or peace-breaking?
4. What are the four promises of forgiveness? Hint: read your peacemaking pamphlet.
5. Who is God laying on my heart? What is He urging me to do?
