Heaven: Your Kingdom Come
December 4, 2020

…we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ… —Titus 2:13
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. —Colossians 3:2,3

Matthew 6:20; 1 John 3:3

THINKING MORE ABOUT HEAVEN

1. Adds meaning to our everyday lives

“I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.” —Revelation 22:12

2. Jesus will rule the earth as King.

“I, the Lord, will rule from Jerusalem as their King forever.” —Micah 4:7

3. Sin, suffering and death will end.

“There will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” —Revelation 21:4

4. Work will be joyful.
Revelation 21:1-5

5. God the Father will live with us.

“God’s home is now among His people! He will live with them…” —Revelation 21:3

6. Earth will be restored to perfection.

“…One like the Son of Man…came to the Ancient of Days…to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom that all peoples, nations and languages should serve Him. Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” —Daniel 7:13,14,27

Gnosticism – Secret knowledge that only certain people know
Critical Theory – Only an oppressed person can know what oppression is.

7. Jesus will rule the earth with us.

“You have made us kings…and we shall reign on the earth.” —Revelation 5:10

Ephesians 1:9,10; Romans 8:21

8. We will get glorified physical bodies.
Read about our resurrected bodies in 1 Corinthians 15:46-58.

He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own… —Philippians 3:21
“Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. Have you any food here?” So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence. —Luke 24:39,42,43

9. Learning continues.

Discussion Questions
1. “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Do you love what you do? What would it take to make your new job in eternity delightful to you?

2. One man is a state governor; another is a janitor cleaning his office. If this life is training for eternal roles, can we assume that the governor will be a leader and the janitor will be cleaning offices? Why or why not? What will Jesus base assignments on?

3. How are you going to be heavenly minded?
