What is your favorite Christmas movie?

What is the most amazing thing that you have ever seen or experienced?

Study

Luke 2:8-20

Luke records that there were shepherds taking care of sheep in the fields around Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. What was the social status of shepherds in the first century? What kind of modern-day worker would be the equivalent of a first century shepherd?

What does the fact that Jesus’ birth was announced to shepherds tell us about who Jesus came to save?

What appeared before the shepherds while receiving the announcement about Jesus’ birth (vs 13-14)? Is it significant that the angels gave praise to God as part of this announcement? Why or why not?

How did the shepherds respond to the announcement that the angels made to them about Jesus’ birth (verses 15-20)?

How did people respond when the shepherds told about the birth of a Savior, who is Christ the Lord? What does it mean that they “wondered”? Have you ever “wondered” about Jesus?

What’s Next

In what ways are you seeing “weariness” around you? What are some things that have caused you to rejoice in the midst of your “weariness”?

Chad said, “No matter how disconnected, distanced, or discouraged you are, God is near.” How does knowing that God is near impact your life?

How has Jesus rewritten the script of your life?

Why do you think that hope is contagious?

Prayer

God, thank you that you came to change my story! Help me to be like the shepherds and tell those around me about the news of your Son!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good
news of great joy that will be for all the people.
