Text: Matthew 22:35-40 (CSB, New Testament)

Today’s Takeaway: Love God, love people.

Week 2 - Lifting Your Discipleship

THE BELIEVER’S PRIMARY MOTIVATION – WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

I. WE LOVE

“And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test him: 36 “Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?”
37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command.” —Matthew 22:35-38

“And they sang a new song: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slaughtered, and you purchased people for God by your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation.” —Revelation 5:9

II. WE LOVE

“The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” —Matthew 22:39

III. TOLD US TO

“Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?” —Matthew 22:36

“This is the greatest and most important command.” —Matthew 22:38

“All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” —Matthew 22:40

“Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” —Luke 9:23

CONCLUSION: Will you carry out God’s Great Command?
