This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat. —1 Samuel 1:7 (NIV)
10 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. 11 And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” —1 Samuel 1:10-11 (NIV)
So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the LORD for him.” —1 Samuel 1:20 (NIV)
Three Things for Every Mom to Consider:
1. Have you invited God into your struggle? He wants to join you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. —Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
2. Have you focused too much on the to-do list? Mom’s greatest contribution is spiritual.
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. —2 Timothy 1:5 (NIV)
3. Have you prioritized the wrong voices? Remember, God says being a mom is a high calling.
