Master Class Part 2 - A Heart to Serve

  • Jesus has the best life

. He said I have come to give life and life more abundantly! (John 10:10)

  • Part 1 was about connecting; Part 2 is about having a heart to

    .

29 Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. 31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and

the fever left her. And she them. —Mark 1:29-31

  • Serving is an of what Jesus has done in your life. “Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)
  • We are not saved

good works, but good works. (Ephesians 2:8-10). Every believer is called to serve. Every believer is a minister.

  • “Serve” – diakoneo. Minister; comes from a word that means “to run on errands”, to be given specific assignments and go about our Father’s business; to wait on.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an

that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be [happy] if you do them. —John 13:12-17

You are to lead by a different model. If you want to be the greatest [make a great impact], then live as one called to

. —Mark 10:43 TPT

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve. —Mark 10:45 NKJV
26 But this is not your calling. You will lead by a different model. The greatest one among you will live as one called to serve others without honor [the younger]. The greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one who has a servant

. 27 The leaders who are served are the most important in your eyes, but in the kingdom, it is the servants who . Am I not here with you as one who serves? —Luke 22:26-27 TPT

1. Serving is an .

  • Attitude is everything. Attitude – a settled way of thinking reflected in person’s behavior.

3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the

attitude that Christ Jesus had. —Philippians 2:3-5

2. Serving joy.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy map be

.” —John 15:11

3. Serving your God-given gifts.

  • There’s are some gifts that remain

until you step into a posture of serving.

  • God is trying to

you where you are. Dream big, but don’t disqualify yourself from growing because you don’t do what’s right in front of you.

4. Serving is .

a. Don’t think that you are not a part of the body or not significant. You

!

14 In fact, the human body is not one single part but rather many parts mingled into one. 15 So if the foot were to say, “Since I’m not a hand, I’m not a part of the body,” it’s forgetting that it is still a vital part of the body. 16 And if the ear were to say, “Since I’m not an eye, I’m not really a part of the body,” it’s forgetting that it is still an important part of the body. —1 Cor 12:15-16 TPT

b. Don’t think that you don’t

others.

So now we see that there are many differing parts and functions, but one body.21 It would be wrong for the eye to say to the hand, “I don’t need you,” and equally wrong if the head said to the foot, “I don’t need you.” —I Cor 12:20-21 TPT

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away. —Isaiah 35:10
