After Egypt Part 3 - The Supernatural Power of Praise

April 30, 2023

The Israelites’ Journey out of Egypt and through the wilderness is an illustration of believers:

  • learning to walk in relationship with Jesus.
  • stepping into healing, , and purpose;
  • engaging in the process of life-change and discipleship.

So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained. 29 But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. —Exodus 14:27b-29

  • In Exodus 15 we see an expression that we haven’t really seen before this moment: this is the first

    ever recorded in the Bible.

  • Exodus 15 is showing us that we are called to be a people of

    .

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. —1 Peter 2:9

Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying:

> “I will sing to the Lord,
> For He has triumphed gloriously!
> The horse and its rider

He has thrown into the sea!

> 2 The Lord is my strength and song,
> And He has become my salvation;
> He is my God, and I will praise Him;

My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. —Exodus 15:1-2

3 Songs that Moses Wrote:

  • Exodus 15 - the song of the Sea. A song of praise and celebration.
  • Deuteronomy 32 - the song of Moses. A song of remembrance and instruction.
  • Psalm 90 - the oldest Psalm. A song of God’s eternal majesty.

They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb. —Revelation 15:3

  • We need to realize there is something happening with praise and worship on earth that is connecting us to the realm.

1. Praise requires .

  • No one else can praise the Lord for you. They can lead you, encourage you, or inspire you, but they can’t praise for you.

Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying. —Exodus 15:1

  • When the heart turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Corinthians 3:16)

2. Praise songs carry of who the Lord is.

“I will sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea! —Exodus 15:1b

  • What God has done reveals who He is.

The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. —Exodus 15:2

The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is his name! —Exodus 15:3

3. Praise goes directions - past, present, and future.

a) Past. Praise for what he has done (gratitude).

he has throne the horse and rider into the sea. —Exodus 15:2

b) Present - Praise for what he’s doing. (paying attention, recognizing, focusing).There’s a right now element to it. It’s in the

person.

Who is like You, glorious in holiness, awesome in praises, doing wonders? —Exodus 15:11

c) Future - Praise for what he will do (prophetic)

You will bring them in and plant them
In the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which You have made
For Your own dwelling,
The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established. —Exodus 15:17

4. Their is supernatural in praise.

  • Praise connects us to a supernatural God and brings us into an encounter with Who He is.

a. Praise brings us into His Presence.

Come before His presence with singing. —Psalm 100:2
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. —Psalm 100:4

b. Brings Him into our Presence. Psalm 22:3 - Praise creates a throne for the king

c. Praise activates faith because it puts our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2)

d. Praise renews our minds and thoughts - song stuck in your head. New songs break old cycles. It instructs us and renews us.

  • The

    of praise and worship is that it causes you to live in the atmosphere of what God has done, is doing, and will do instead of living circumstantially.

  • It carries an atmosphere of faith into our environment instead of letting our environment

    the atmosphere to us.

20 Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam answered them:

> “Sing to the Lord,
> For He has triumphed gloriously!
> The horse and its rider

He has thrown into the sea!” —Exodus 15:20-21
