Nehemiah 5:1-19

Read the first 4 verses of Nehemiah 5. What kind of stress must these families be experiencing? Why do you think they addressed the situation now?

Read verses 16-19. Review Nehemiah’s work ethic and methods of management. What source of temptation could have made Nehemiah selfish? How did Nehemiah show concern for the poor? How can we see problems as opportunities for God to work?

List what former leaders did and what Nehemiah does in contrast. Why is this kind of leadership so rare?

Father, help me to block out the distractions that face me. Help me to stay focused on who you are! Help me to say yes to the things you are calling me to!
