Text: Galatians 6:2

You were created for relationship. Designed from the very beginning.

Big Idea of the Message: We are commanded to walk with one another toward holiness, aiding in times of struggle.

As Christians…we will see…we are to look after each other in practical ways as we walk toward holiness in Christ. At times, you will need to take the load for another; other times, they will bear the load for you.

While the journey toward holiness must be taken by all Christians, we are encouraged to do 3 things:

  1. We with one another along the way
  2. and those in sin
  3. Push others toward

Paul says nothing about

nor but restoration with gentleness.

Leviticus 19:17 states, “You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin, you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself.”

Paul is telling the church, the goal is not

or , but restoration.

The goal is not the “gotcha”…the goal is restoration!

Today’s Focus

Paul continues with our main verse by encouraging Christians to aid in times of weariness, to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (v. 2)

“bear one another’s burdens,” literally, “weights.”

“so ye will fulfil,” Greek, “fill up,” “thoroughly fulfil.”

“the law of Christ”—namely, “love”…Jesus whose sole “burden” is “love”

for God so LOVED the world…it was Jesus’ burden to fulfill the love of the Father.
This verse literally means: Take someone else’s weight so they will be thoroughly filled with the Father’s love.

Those outside of the family of faith are drawn to the love and depth they see.

Closing

The Christian walk is not done alone; it’s done in community.

If you’re feeling burdened today, remember the invitation Jesus gives in Matthew 11:28-30 is still offered today…

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
