1 Corinthians 16:5-9, NLT
5 I am coming to visit you after I have been to Macedonia, for I am planning to travel through Macedonia.
6 Perhaps I will stay awhile with you, possibly all winter, and then you can send me on my way to my next destination.
7 This time I don’t want to make just a short visit and then go right on. I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me.
8 In the meantime, I will be staying here at Ephesus until the Festival of Pentecost.
9 There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.

A life with only open doors doesn’t build the resilience that comes from resistance.

It’s a tension to be wrestled with not a problem to be solved.

Phillippians 1:22-24, NLT
22 But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better.
23 I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me.
24 But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.

John 16:33, NLT
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Mathew 4:1, NLT
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.

You rarely have favor without a fight

Psalm 90:17, NLT
17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.

The force against me is indicative of the favor that’s on me

Psalm 67:1, NLT
1 May God be merciful and bless us.
May his face smile with favor on us.
