1 Cor 12.4-6
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the
common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit a message of
wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same
Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing
by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another
prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another
speaking in different kinds of tongues,  a  and to still another the
interpretation of tongues.  b  11All these are the work of one and the
same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

If God chose to supernaturally heal people back then, why couldn’t He do the same today?

Acts 8:18-23

18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the
apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19and said, “Give me also this
ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy
Spirit.”
20Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you
thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21You have no part
or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before
God. 22Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that
he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23For I see
that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

We can’t control or conjure up the gift of healing.

We seek the gift giver, not the gift.

Acts 9:39-43
39Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs
to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him
the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still
with them.
40Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his
knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha,

get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. 41He took
her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the
believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them
alive. 42This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed
in the Lord. 43Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named
Simon.

God offers an invitation to dive deeply into faith with honesty and submission, trusting that whatever the outcome, God’s plans are perfect.

James 1:2-4

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,  a  whenever you face
trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith
produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Many times the hardest seasons produce the most fruit.

Matthew 9:1-8

1Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own
town. 2Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your
sins are forgiven.”

3At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This
fellow is blaspheming!”
4Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil
thoughts in your hearts? 5Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are
forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6But I want you to know that
the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the
paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7Then the man
got up and went home. 8When the crowd saw this, they were filled
with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.

Psalm 32:5

5Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the LORD.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
