“A true Christian feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen, talks very familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see…sees the invisible, hears the inaudible and knows that which passes knowledge.” —A.W. Tozer

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” —Hebrews 11:1

“And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.” —Hebrews 11:39-40

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,” —Hebrews 12:1

“Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely,” —Hebrews 12:1

“What is a hinderance to you may not be a hinderance in any way to someone else. A hinderance is something, otherwise good, that weighs you down spiritually. It could be a friendship, an association, an event, a place, a habit, a pleasure, an entertainment, an honor. But if this otherwise good thing drags you down, you must strip it away.” —Kent Hughes

“And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” —Hebrews 12:1

“looking to Jesus,” —Hebrews 12:2

“The founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” —Hebrews 12:2

“Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” —Hebrews 12:3

Three practical reminders to help us to run with enduring faith:

  • God has given us the grace to endure and persevere in our race.

“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” —Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT)

  • You are never alone in the race

“I thank thee that this Christian way whereon I walk is no untried or unchartered road, but a road beaten hard by the footsteps of saints, apostles, prophets, and martyrs.” —John Baillie

  • The goal for every person in this race should be to Finish Well!
