Scripture: Acts 5:27-32
Takeaway: The resurrection can spark changes in our beliefs and behavior that surprise even ourselves.

Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.

• One thing you need.

• How can the group help?

Bible Discussion: Read Acts 5:17-42
• How do the actions of the apostles in this passage stand in contrast to their actions following the arrest of Jesus?

• Peter is the main apostle named in this passage. He is also one of the main betrayers named after Jesus’ arrest. What caused such an abrupt turn-around for him?

• What are your thoughts on the decision of the Sanhedrin to let them go? What does this say about the tendency of people to underestimate Jesus & his followers?

Application:
• Have you ever surprised yourself by acting in faith instead of in fear?

• What experiences have caused you to re-think your beliefs?

• Was there an experience of event that made you more willing to stand up for your beliefs?

• When has God done something that truly surprised you?

Challenge: Surprise someone this week with an act of kindness! We never know what our actions or words can inspire in others until we try. Be the surprise for someone else this week, that makes them believe a little deeper!
