Building a House of Sons and Daughters

If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. —John 14:15-18 (NIV)

The mature children of God are those. Who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” (abba father) For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!” —Romans 8:14-16 (TPT)

We all have an

Spirit!

Orphan - a child whose parents have died or abandoned them.

Spiritual orphans are always looking for security, affirmation, love, acceptance, value, purpose, and significance because they have never received them from their heavenly Father.

What does an Orphan look like?

Moses offers 5 objections exposing his orphan heart.

1 Who am I to do this?

2 Whom am I representing?

Orphans are always looking our for themselves because they can never be sure that any one else is looking out for them.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God. Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ . —Galatians 1:10 (ESV)

3 What if they won’t accept me?

4 I am not competent.

5 Please send anyone else.

You have a Father who calls you Son/Daughter.

COTR will not be an orphanage for Christians. We will train up sons and daughters who can storm the gates of hell.

Let me illustrate: As long as an heir is a minor, he’s not really much different than a servant, although he’s the master over all of them. For until the time appointed by the father, the child is under the domestic supervision of the guardians of the estate. So it is with us. When we were juveniles we were enslaved under the hostile spirits of the world. But when the time of fulfillment had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law. Yet all of this was so that he would redeem and set free those held hostage to the law so that we would receive our freedom and a full legal adoption as his children. And so that we would know that we are his true children, God released the Spirit of Sonship into our hearts—moving us to cry out intimately, “My Father! My true Father!” Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has—for we are heirs because of what God has done! —Galatians 4:1-7 (TPT)
