John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. The peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
How To Have Peace
In the New Testament, the primary Greek word for peace is eirene, and it refers to rest and tranquility.
a) The Gift Of Peace
A gift is something given willingly without expecting anything in return.
John 14:27a “I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart.”
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be upon His shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
Isaiah 48:22 “‘There is no peace for the wicked,’ says the Lord.”
b) The Guard Of Peace
A guard protects against damage or harm.
John 14:27b “The peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
Romans 8:6b “Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Colossians 3:15a “Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.”
