02/25/2024: A Renewed Longing For The Preciousness of The Grace of God
February 25, 2024

A YEAR OF PRAYER

1  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2  Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3  For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4  Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge.
5  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.
6  Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. —Psalms 51:1 - 9

A PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. —Psalm 51:10

11  Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. —Psalm 51:11 - 12

SPIRIT DEFINED: The Greek word for the spirit, pneuma, translates roughly to breath; it is the living essence that connects the body, heart, and mind, and will return to God when a Christian dies.

16  For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering.
17  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. —Psalm 51:16 - 17

A RENEWED LONGING FOR THE PRECIOUSNESS OF THE GRACE OF GOD

GRACE DEFINED: Unmerited love and favor of God.

1. A renewed understanding of the purpose of grace.

20  Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
21  so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. —Romans 5:20 - 21

14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15  John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ”
16  And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. —John 1:14 - 16

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. —Romans 8:14

Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name. —Romans 1:5

so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. —Romans 5:21

1  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
2  Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
3  Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
4  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. —Romans 6:1 - 4

5  Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
6  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
7  Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. —James 4:5 - 7

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. —1 Peter 4:10

Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. —2 Timothy 1:9

11  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12  teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age. —Titus 2:11 - 12

8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9  not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. —Ephesians 2:8 - 10

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. —1 Corinthians 15:10

Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. —2 Timothy 1:9

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. —1 Peter 5:10

8  Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9  And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. —2 Corinthians 12:8 - 9

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:16
