Jude 1:24-25
24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Read Jude 1:24-25
1. Jude ends his letter with this beautiful hymn of praise. What is your favorite worship song or hymn? Why? How does hearing or singing that song affect you?
2. Stumbling, which is accidental, is different than going astray, which is more intentional. In your experience, how has God kept you from unintentionally stumbling?
3. Read the beginning of Isaiah 6, in which the prophet Isaiah is taken up into God’s throne room. Isaiah’s initial response to being presented to God is twofold: a keen awareness of his own sinfulness and fear of the implications. Jude’s presents a very different picture of our state when presented before God. What two responses does Jude highlight? Why is Jude’s description almost completely opposite of Isaiah’s? What has changed?
4. Do some thinking (and maybe even some research!) on the following biblical words: glory, majesty, power, authority. What did you learn?
5. What do those attributes of God mean to you in practical terms? What actual difference do the glory, majesty, power and authority of God make in your life?
6. Reflect on our last 6 weeks in Jude. What is the most important discovery, insight, principle or challenge that you will take with you from our study of Jude?
