THE SHOES OF THE GOSPEL
…and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by
the gospel of peace. —– Ephesians 6:15 (ESV)
1) Stand on the Right
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to turn
back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and
the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by
the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are
wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ And I
will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will
get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall
know that I am the Lord.” And they did so. —– Exodus 6:1-4 (ESV)
And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the
salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the
Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The
Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” —– Exodus 14:13-14 (ESV)
2)the Gospel to the Nations
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never
heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord,
who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes
from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. —– Romans 10:13-17 (ESV)
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who
brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of
happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God
reigns.” —– Isaiah 52:7 (ESV)
3) Understand theand the of the Gospel
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the
surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted
in every way, but not crushed… That’s the paradox! perplexed,
but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck
down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death
of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our
bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for
Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our
mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. —- 2 Corinthians 4:7-12 (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for
salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to
the Greek. —- Romans 1:16 (ESV)
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but
to us who are being saved it is the power of God. —- 1 Corinthians 1:18 (ESV)
