How does Jesus respond to the challenge the Pharisees issue concerning the validity of His testimony (8:13-26)? What future event does He point to as the ultimate proof that His claims are true and why is this so significant (8:27-30)?
How does this passage specifically help you develop your understanding of Jesus’ work of redemption?
What truths do you learn about Jesus from vv. 12-30? Why is it so important to consistently ask this question and humbly respond to its answer?
Why do the claims of Christ eliminate the common idea that He was a good religious teacher, but He is not God? Can a person (e.g. a Jehovah’s Witness) who professes Jesus as his Savior and Lord, but denies His deity, be truly saved?
How did Jesus challenge the Pharisees attachment to the world? Why did the religious leaders miss the identity of Jesus?
When you consider John 8:23-30, in what ways did Jesus reflect the Father?
How does the truth that God wants to make Himself known and guide us into a life that pleases Him encourage your faith?
