19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. —2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT)
Hosea & Gomer
2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take for yourself a wife inclined to infidelity, and children of infidelity; for the land commits flagrant infidelity, abandoning the Lord.” 3 So he went and took Gomer, and she conceived and bore him a son. —Hosea 1:2-3 (NASB)
1 Then the Lord said to me, “Go and love your wife again, even though she commits adultery with another lover. This will illustrate that the Lord still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods and love to worship them.”
2 So I bought her back for fifteen pieces of silver and five bushels of barley and a measure of wine. 3 Then I said to her, “You must live in my house for many days and stop your prostitution. During this time, you will not have sexual relations with anyone, not even with me.” —Hosea 3:1-3 (NLT)
The Price We Pay To Reconcile
1.
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. —1 John 1:8-10 (NLT)
2.
12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
14 If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. —Matthew 6:12-14 (NLT)
3.
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. —James 1:19 (NLT)
4.
2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. —Ephesians 4:2-3 (NLT)
5.
5 Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control. —1 Corinthians 7:5 (NLT)
Conclusion
8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. —1 Peter 4:8 (NLT)
